Remi is a product of Brightful Corporation, a Delaware corporation. When we say "Remi," "we," "us," or "our," we mean Brightful Corporation.
1. Who We Are
Remi is a collaborative memory app. It lets you capture the story behind your moments in your own voice, invite the people who were there to add their perspective, and build a shared memory that belongs to everyone in it.
Remi is not a social media platform. There is no public feed. There are no likes, no followers, and no algorithm designed to keep you scrolling. Everything you create in Remi is private by default and shared only with the people you explicitly invite.
This policy applies to all Remi products: the iOS app, the Android app, and the website at remi.app. Remi is currently available to users in the United States only. If you are accessing Remi from outside the United States, please note that this service is not intended for use in your region at this time.
2. What We Collect
Information you give us directly
- Account information — your name, email address, and password when you create an account.
- Voice recordings — audio you record when creating a memory. These are processed by Remi to build the structured memory page. Recordings are stored on our servers and are not shared with third parties for advertising or training purposes.
- Photos and videos — media you upload or select from your camera roll to attach to a memory. We access your photo library only with your explicit permission, and only to the content you choose to share with us.
- Memory content — text, audio, and media contributed to memory pages, including contributions from people you invite.
- Contacts (optional) — names or contact information for people you invite to a memory. We use this only to send them your invitation. We do not add them to any mailing list or contact them for any other purpose.
- Waitlist sign-ups — if you sign up for the Remi waitlist through our website or an advertisement, we collect your name, email address, and any optional information you provide (such as the age of your youngest child).
Information collected automatically
- Device information — device type, operating system, and app version.
- Usage data — features you use, screens you visit, and actions you take within the app. We use this to understand how people use Remi and to improve the product.
- Crash and diagnostic data — error logs that help us identify and fix bugs.
- Attribution data — if you install Remi from an advertisement, we may receive information about which ad led to your install via a third-party attribution service. See Section 7 for more detail.
What we don't do with your data
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your memories, voice recordings, or photos to target you with advertising or to train AI models for purposes beyond the Remi service. Your memories are not our product.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the Remi service — create and display memory pages, process voice recordings into structured memories, match photos to moments, and enable collaborative contributions.
- Send invitations on your behalf — when you invite someone to contribute to a memory, we send them a message containing a link to that memory.
- Communicate with you — send account-related notifications (such as when someone contributes to your memory), respond to your support requests, and send you product updates and announcements if you've opted in.
- Improve Remi — analyze how the app is used in aggregated, anonymized form to fix bugs, improve features, and build new ones.
- Ensure safety and security — detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service.
- Comply with legal obligations — respond to legal requirements where applicable.
We do not use your memory content, voice recordings, or photos for any purpose other than providing the Remi service to you.
5. Your Memories Stay Yours
Privacy isn't a feature we added. It's a design principle we started with. Here's what that means in practice:
Private by defaultOnly you can see a memory until you choose to invite someone. Nothing is public unless you make it so.
We don't sell your dataYour memories, voice recordings, and photos are never sold to advertisers, data brokers, or third parties.
Your content stays yoursWe use AI to help structure your memories. That processing serves you. We don't use your content to build products or services for others.
You're in controlDelete a memory and it's gone. Delete your account and your data is removed from our systems.
We take these commitments seriously. We've structured the product and our infrastructure around them — not as marketing language, but as operating principles.
6. Waitlist & Product Updates
If you signed up for the Remi waitlist — through our website, a Facebook or Instagram advertisement, or another channel — we will use your email address to:
- Notify you when Remi is available
- Send you early access invitations and beta updates
- Send you product updates and announcements about Remi
By signing up, you are consenting to receive these communications from Remi / Brightful Corporation. We will not sell your email address or share it with third-party marketers.
To unsubscribe, click the "Unsubscribe" link in any email we send, or contact us at feedback@brightful.com. We will remove you from communications within 10 business days. You may still receive transactional emails (such as account or security notifications) after unsubscribing.
If you provided optional information when signing up — such as the age of your youngest child — we may use that to send you relevant content. We will not use it for any other purpose.
If you signed up through a Meta advertisement
Meta (Facebook/Instagram) collected your information through their Instant Form feature and shared it with us as the advertiser. By submitting that form, you agreed to Meta's terms and to Remi contacting you. Your information is governed by this Privacy Policy from the moment we receive it. For information on how Meta handles your data before it reaches us, please see Meta's Privacy Policy.
8. How Long We Keep Your Data
- Account data — kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our active systems. Some information may be retained in backup systems for a limited period before permanent deletion.
- Memory content (voice recordings, photos, text) — kept until you delete the memory or your account.
- Waitlist data — kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
- Analytics data — anonymized and aggregated. Not linked to your identity.
- Attribution data — retained in accordance with the terms of our attribution provider.
9. Your Rights
Remi is currently available to users in the United States only. The rights below apply to all U.S. users. To exercise any of them, contact us at feedback@brightful.com. We will respond within 30 days.
For all users
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your data. You can also delete your account directly in the Remi app.
- Unsubscribe — opt out of product updates and announcements at any time (see Section 6).
For California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
- You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose. We do not sell personal information.
- You have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. Because we do not sell personal information, this right is not applicable — but you may still contact us with any concerns.
- You have the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.
International users
Remi is not currently available outside the United States. If we expand internationally in the future, we will update this policy to reflect the applicable rights and legal requirements in those regions.
10. Children's Privacy
Remi is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at feedback@brightful.com and we will delete it promptly.
Regarding children appearing in memories: Many Remi users create memories that feature their children — photos, videos, and voice recordings that include minors. These memories are private by default and visible only to the contributors the account holder explicitly invites. We do not use any content featuring minors for advertising, analytics profiling, or any purpose other than displaying the memory to the people the account holder has chosen to include.
11. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect your information — including your voice recordings, photos, and memory content — from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or loss.
These steps include encryption of data in transit and at rest, access controls that limit which personnel can access user data, and ongoing review of our security practices.
No system is entirely immune to risk. If you have reason to believe your account has been compromised, please contact us at feedback@brightful.com right away.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy over time. When we make material changes, we will let you know by email (if you have an account or are on our waitlist) and by posting a notice in the Remi app. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will reflect when changes were most recently made.
Your continued use of Remi after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. If you disagree with a change, you may delete your account and stop using Remi at any time.
13. Contact Us
If you have questions about this policy, want to exercise your data rights, or have a privacy concern, we want to hear from you.
